Networks of cooperation and regional competitiveness have recently become topics of major importance for managers, scholars and governments alike. Regional networks have been envisaged under different names and models, e.g. clusters, eco-clusters, industrial districts, and so forth. Amongst these, eco-industrial parks, industrial ecosystems or industrial symbiosis have become the label for a specific type of network, where members add value to their businesses by reintroducing waste into the production process and/or cascading energy.
